One of my all time favorite get-a-ways! This is a great year around camping area off of US 101 on the Olympic Peninsula. It is set on the North Fork Skokomish River on the peninsulas eastern slopes. You can hike the Staircase Rapids trail, which is a magnificent 2 mile loop which climbs the banks of the river, crosses over on a log bridge and comes back on the opposite river bank. Beautiful old growth forest, much draped in moss and very peaceful. This is also a great base camp for many other hikes.

Directions: From US 101 at Hoodsport, turn left on Lake Cushman Road (hwy 119) and follow it for 18 miles the roads end and the campground
