Sauk Mountain
-

This 4 mile found trip hike is a pretty steep climb gaining over 1,600' mostly through alpine meadows on an open trail with many switchbacks. The 360' view at the top takes in Mt. Baker, Whitehorse, Shuksan as well as the Skagit and Sauk rivers makes the work to get to the top well worth the effort. You reach the summit at 1.5 miles but be sure to continue another 1/2 mile along the ridge to the old lookout site.

Directions: Drive east on Hwy 20 (North Cascade) from Concrete to Rockport State Park (great place for camping and a jump off point for this hike). Turn left on road #1030 for 8 miles to the roads end and the parking lot.
