Named after a long ago abandon mine, this area is lush with alpine meadows and fantastic views of Mt. Baker, Shuksan and many Canadian peaks. This is a 7 mile round trip hike and gains about 1,500'. There are campsites at the 2.5 mile point next to a stream that sometimes goes dry in late summer. The coolest place to camp it at the 5,699 summit where the old lookout tower use to be. The view is unforgetable!
Directions: I-5 north to exit 255 then east on the Mt. Baker Hwy (542) to Glacier. Continue 2 miles beyond Canyon Creek Road, take a left and drive 15 miles to the parking lot and trail head.
