This trail has 6 small lakes, beautiful alpine meadows and fantastic views of Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan. It is also a wildlife sanctuary so deer are everywhere. This is a late summer hike due to the snowpack, is a 6 mile loop and only gains 1,500'. One very neat lake is Iceberg which actually has small icebergs that never seem to melt. There are also a number of waterfalls.
Directions: Drive Hwy 542 to Mt. Baker Lodge in the Heather Meadows Recration Area. Continue on a gravel road 3 mils to the end of the road which is at 5,200' (this is why the snow stays around most of the year). Look for Artist Point parking lot and spot the big, wide trail that drops into the forest. Don't take the trail that starts up or you will end up at Table Mountain.
