This is a flat (800' total elevation gain) 9 mile round trip hike that anyone can handle. 2 miles into this hike you will enter the Pasayten Wilderness area and 2.5 miles farther you will come to Black Lake. This is a great swimming and fishing lake with many places to set up camp all around the lake. This trail is almost always in shade which makes the hiking even easier.
Directions: From Winthrop, head north on Chewack River Road and from the "Now entering the National Forest" sign continue to the Lakes Creek road (about 21 miles from Winthrop. Turn left and drive 2.5" to the road end and the trail head.
